The ST no longer allows chat boxes, IRC, or anything of that type because they can't moderate them. Why are alternate forums still allowed if the ST can't moderate those either?
I've noticed that the majority of these alternate forums are created by 10 - 12 year olds, and, because they're appointing other 10 - 12 year olds as moderators, they're potentially allowing those 10 - 12 year olds to see the things that need to be removed (spam, cussing, spam, etc.)
Therefore, these alternate forums are prospectively just as harmful as chatboxes/IRC chats, if not more harmful because of the spam.

If you put it that way, the Scratch team may as well just ban everything out side of Scratch that they can't oversee. Besides IRCs are obsolete

Not freenode- freenode is cool.
But I suppose that's also true.

I'm not 12. I'm older.

As was pointed out above so eloquently by Blade-Edge, we have no control over what happens on forums outside of this one. I suppose we could forbid advertising outside forums on Scratch, if it got to be a problem, but I don't see a need for that as long as the forums aren't being used in a disrespectful way against Scratch users.
It's good experience to set up your own forums...the people doing it might have a better appreciation for what it takes to keep one running smoothly

I would censor mine.

Iagree. These forums are for people to make themselves feel like they have power over other people. They annoy me .

I gave a shot at a forum, but it got attacked by social engineers and script kiddies, so I wrote a farewell message that ended with,"this forum is dead. You all hacker scavengers can pick over the bones. Goodbye." and closed all topics.
In other words, I failed.
But I still join other people's forum.

Script kiddies? What exactly happened? It sounds like you just got tricked out of an admin position, not even close to being hacked
