I haven't been able to play Minecraft, save once at my grandpa's and my friend's, because it's SOOOOOO laggy, and the download doesn't work...

Well this sucks. I heard a lot of zombie noises underground so I went digging. I ended up collecting about 300 blocks of cobblestone, and found no dungeon. now I've dug out this really confusing cave and I forgot the way out.....

I downloaded ModLoader and MakeMyItem, but I had to delete them, because minecraft online wouldn't work.

No, they can cost money, but only if you buy one. You can make one yourself for free, but it might end annoyingly.
