You may not like them, but here's the deal: the Beatles are the reason any music today exists.

In the 1950s to early 60s, record companies were the ones who decided where and when artists would record new albums. The Beatles refused, inspiring other artists to do the same. Now, this is an industry standard.

Not only that, but just about all music back then was done by solo artists who took their riffs and lyrics from older songs. The Beatles were the first actual band to hit mainstream success, and performed only what they wrote themselves, which was exactly the direction music took for decades after.

Music history aside, it's fine if you don't like their music, but you have to respect how much the did for the music industry.

And at least they could actually sing and play their instruments, unlike now where you can get on the top 40 charts with GarageBand and some repetitive, self-righteous lyrics.

This is the truth nowadays, unfortunately. People who can actually 'make' music get much more respect from me, rather than the synth+words people.
