We are happy to announce the release of Scratch 1.3. This version includes expanded international language capabilities, as well as several new features, such as lists and comments. Many of the additions are based on suggestions by Scratch community members; other suggestions from the community are high on our "wish list" for future releases.
Scratch 1.3 comes with new sample projects that illustrate how to use the new features. Also included in this release are an updated Getting Started guide and Reference guide.
Note: Scratch projects saved with Scratch 1.3 cannot be opened with earlier versions of Scratch.
Scratch 1.3 for Windows OS requires Windows XP or Vista;
Scratch 1.3 for Mac OS requires 10.4 or higher.

Waaahhh
theres a glitch in scratch 1.3 (well at least on mine)
i can only have one variable/list per sprite.....

Hi, xx72connor72xx.
You can have as many variables and lists per sprite as you like -- I just checked to be sure, and it works. Perhaps you tried to create a variable that had the same name as a global ("for all sprites") variable. To avoid possible confusion, a sprite variable cannot have the same name as a global variable.
I hope that helps...

They added text variables. Variables can have text value which can be used in if blocks

I DON'T LIKE the fact that "for this sprite only" varibles arn't the same color as before. It makes them hard to tell apart in scripts.

The coment block lets you leave a note to yourself (or other scratchers who have downloaded the project) to tell yourself what that section of code does

Good job Scratch team. Now the only thing you could add to Scratch is have sprite duplication, seperate scenes (Similar to Costumes), booleans, and a few more Highly Detailed Controls. Nice job though. I used Scratch 1.3 during its beta and it was also great.

scratch is to introduce programming to young people, I still don't understand boolean much and scratch doesn't want to get to advanced.
