Seriously people. Nikkiperson, TheExplodingCheese, glitchfinder...
Who's next? Spritemaster? Astro? x-cube?
COME ON, PUT IT TOGETHER PEOPLE!
NOBODY LIKES A QUITTER!
...
*Sigh*
Sorry. I'm just frustrated.
The entertainment on Scratch has been dropping ever since us scratchers ever invented quitting.
And now there's barely anything left...
I'll never quit... not until I'm going off to college...
Not until I'm the last scratcher on Earth...
Not until the world ends (Come on people, it's not gonna end in 2012. Forget it)...
If you agree, then... well... I dunno. Post something helpful.

Yeah, but it just annoys me that everybody is quitting at once. Like really, TheExplodingCheese and glitchfinder both quit in ONE week. What the heck? That's just crazy, dude.

No, it's not.
Look at how many people are joining. Chances are more than one person will quit in a week.

Quitting has been around since the dawn of Scratch. When I first joined - less than a year after Scratch was created - people were quitting left, right, and center as nothing more than a publicity stunt. If anything, I think we've improved in terms of that.

I think people are quitting because they don't get their way

I think that too
I mean I don't think a person like Jack would ever comment badly on someone.
Glitchfinder quit after he lost a Scratch off against him, and now he lost another, and I suppose he wanted people to think Jack was responsible.
Anyway, we shouldn't be discussing people specifically.
Quitting is just a way of life.
The great cycle
Join Scratch:
Make projects ==> Argue ==> Quit ==> Come back in 1 day - 1 month ==> Rinse and repeat

Quitting has existed long before Scratch has ever started, it's actually quite prevalent among many online communities. And the reasons of quitting Scratch (or any online community) are many.
Someone people quit because of boredom, or they move on to other things. Others may quit because of a continued fight over the internet or a case of cyber-bullying which has otherwise persisted. Other reasons include quitting as a publicity stunt, disillusionment, or not being used to the community in general.
I think most of us know the different cases of quitting and how to deal with it (from ignoring the publicity stunt cases, to reporting quitting that stems from an excessive case of cyber-bullying). Now we just have make sure that quitting is not what is emphasized here on Scratch, or anywhere else for that matter.

And whats even more annoying is people who quit without warning!

I know, right? People quit too much. Even the people who know they got fans.

Are you kidding? That's the best and correct kind of quitting.

That's how glitchfinder quit. He PRETENDED to quit, but I still see his comments all over the place.

Nikki didn't quit
She's just not on often
Occasionally she posts
And everybody who quits going "I QUIT WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH" just wants attention

Sometimes people just gradually slip away from the website: it's no longer interesting to them, or whatever. I don't think that really qualifies as "quitting," because they don't really do it intentionally.

That actually happened to me for a while; I was busy with school and didn't have time to visit Scratch as much. But hey, here I am, right?
The fact is is that people leave for one reason or another, and that's their own decision. We'd like to see many of them back, but hey, that's life.

Yes, the exact same thing has happened to me twice. The first time was back in 2008, I think, and Scratch just started to become uninteresting. Then I came back a few times (without much success) in 2009, made a few projects, and was back for 2010. Then I just sort of starting slipping away this school year because of the burden of schoolwork. But we're in exams right now, of which I only had 3, so I have this week off. Hence I've been pretty active lately.

Even for me.
I had too much stuff to do.
But, we have a program at our county (Howard, MD) that lets us use Scratch in a competition! It's called MESA and that's how I ended up here!

It is not that too many people are quitting. About the same amount of people everyday. It's the people who are quitting that you are angry about. I mean, some people quit when they hit the three week mark. You don't care about that. You care about the big ones, like Nikkiperson2. But it's okay. Everyone is going to quit Scratch sometime! Wether it's death, growing too old, or just getting too bored, and there will be a point in time when Scratch stops, then everyone will technically have "quit".

If I were you, I'd look on the bright side. Whilst people are quitting, loads of people are joining. And if you ever are stuck for a good animation I don't think Swifty's gonna leave any time soon.
Oh, and by the way, I'll never quit either, if that's any consolation.

I don't think there is even a point of starting this forum.Everyone quits.Nobody can stop it.Scratch isn't the only place where people quit.
For example:
In board games (lets say Clue) some kid might quit playing.
Why does it matter? It's not like this forum can stop people from quitting.More people join than people who quit.It doesn't mean anything?
Like glitchfinder,he/she was being a sore loser. It doesn't matter. The world isn't going to end if people start quitting.I think thats last thing you should worry about on Scratch.
