The Guide To Avoiding Screamers (Section 2 - Videos)

Yeah, many users have been reffering to screamers and are being scared by them recently... here are simple methods to avoid a screamer. This is a section of the group of four threads.

Table Of Contents:
1 - Games
2 - Videos
3 - Illusions/Pictures (Coming soon)
4 - Scratch Projects (Coming soon)

2 - Videos
Probarbly the most important section in the group, there are more video screamers on YouTube than anywhere else. Here are my tips on how to avoid them. Similar tips may also be located in the Games section.

1. Comments.
Yep, the number one tip, whichever section it's in. READ THE COMMENTS PEOPLES!! If they are 1. Saying they are scared of the vid 2. Showing dislikes to the user or 3. Disabled for the video, then it is likely to be a screamer.

2. The video length.
Look at the video length. If it is shorter than 0:30 (even though it could still be any length) don't watch.

3. Hunts are runts.
Yep, a slogan I made, I know it's not the best. But if the vid asks you to 'Find Waldo/Wally or find what is wrong with a picture, X out!

4. The bottom of the screen.
If you are suspicious, turn your computer down to low sound, but not quite off, and scroll down so you can see the video time and just the very bottom of the video, and watch. You can easily detect a screamer without being scared. If you see something that looks a bit like a white circle with hair, you're seeing the bottom of the famous 'Exorcist Scary Face' and if you see a flash you've got a screamer too. Also, if you listen you'll haer a tiny scream, since your volume is very low. (NOTE: Screamers are not always at the end).

5. Text and music.
If the music is very quiet on neutral common volume or the text is small on non-full screen, don't watch. If you do, don't go into full screen to read the text and don't look closely, and keep the volume down. Right down.

A good example is the 'Super Mario 64 New Realm' prank. The vid is 5:00 long, but the last two minutes are credits. It instructs how to get to the new realm and get 150 secret stars in 'Super Mario 64 DS' but the two realms themselves are fake. There is no new realm. In the first two minutes it shows access to a fake new realm and graphic effects turn all the walls different colours to show it really looks like a new world. At 2:45 it says 'The sign says to kick the back wall, and this is what happens...'. Mario walks up to the wall, causing you to look closely. The music is very quiet at this point too, to make you think it's for excitement and turn up the volume. When he kicks the wall, so does the screamer.

6. Once sometimes isn't enough.
Yep. One is bad, but two is worse.

Sometimes, quite close to the end of a vid, a mild scream with a not-so-scary face appears. It says 'Gotcha!' Of course that would not be scary. But then, right at the end, the real screamer is hiding. If you see a not scary screamer, X out immediatly to avoid the bad screamer!

Sometimes, vids actually have two screamers, both BAD, but the second is even louder. Watch out, one screamer sometimes isn't enough.

Section 3 coming soon!

Interesting! I had never thought that there would be two screamers in a video!

Re: The Guide To Avoiding Screamers (Section 2 - Videos)

Ya man, that is important. But there are also screamers that are different. I saw one wher it was the scene in "The Exorcist" where the guy walks in and the girls head rotates while she's sitting on the bed. It was in a videogame video. But the face itself is pretty small.

Re: The Guide To Avoiding Screamers (Section 2 - Videos)

Yeah, once I got pranked with a screamer. There was this "cheat" for Mario Kart Wii, and right when it was about to happen, the screamer appeared. I was like 7 so I got scared. The scream sound kept on repeating. I suppose it went on for the whole second half of the video, but I just got up and ran away.

Put in The tic-tac-scare prank. My dad pulled it on me!

You move, then computer does, then you can't do anything, SCREAMER!

Re: The Guide To Avoiding Screamers (Section 2 - Videos)

Really?

And yes, I've seen the Tic-Tac-Toe prank. It didn't get me, because I could tell from the very quiet sound of the placing, and the VERY quiet music, plus I went first so I had longer to go. If you go first you move, thn the computer, then you, then the screamer.

Re: The Guide To Avoiding Screamers (Section 2 - Videos)

Once I had a screamer happen to me.

I was about 5 years old at the time, and my first reaction was,"MUMMY LOOK AT THIS COOL THING OMGBBQ"

Error:Signature could not load. Please wait for an indefinite amount of time, until you realize you're gullible and go off to look for another potentially interesting signature to stare at.

Yep, the number one tip, whichever section it's in. READ THE COMMENTS PEOPLES!! If they are 1. Saying they are scared of the vid 2. Showing dislikes to the user or 3. Disabled for the video, then it is likely to be a screamer.

But comments are removed on all scratch links.  hmm  With youtuberepeat.

Re: The Guide To Avoiding Screamers (Section 2 - Videos)

Awesome guide... BTW, I may sound super duper mega ultra incredibly ridiculously viggorously extremely triple diple doubly MAD, but I find screamers OK, because they are funny, adrenaline pumping and odd. Could you tell me where I can find the Super Mario 64 'New Realm' prank? Lol, I need a bit of a shock right now to get me out of boredom.

I might return for a little while.

Re: The Guide To Avoiding Screamers (Section 2 - Videos)

My first screamer was a Youtube video I think, and optical illusion, I wasn't scared though, the next one was a Scratch Project, and nearly SCARED THE HECK OUT OF ME.
