Right, here are handy tips to avoid game screamers.
1. Clues at the beginning.
Turn your volume to a common reasonable amount, like 25% full. Listen to the music. If it is quite loud, the likeliness of a screamer is a bit less. If it is really quiet, or there is no music at all, they want you to turn the sound up and the likelihood is it will e a screamer. Read the text if there is any. The smaller and less readable the text is, the more likely a screamer is going to strike. If there is a full screen button nearby too, suspect even more.
2. Zoom out.
If possible, turn the sound off and zoom out and see if there is a screamer. If you can't reach a screamer point, you can start zooming in again, but take it slowly. You might find a button to the screamer you couldn't see before.
3. Watch the commands.
If the game asks you to listen to a sound, and you hear it is very quiet, or it asks you to read very small text, chances are it's a screamer. If you are asked to look closely, don't obey.
One classic I know of is the game Missing Dog. You are asked to help find a missing dog and then you are asked to listen to the bark. The bark is very quiet, causing most people to turn to full sound. IF YOU TURN TO FULL SOUND WITHIN A GAME, TURN BACK BEFORE CONTINUING! You then click 'See The Images' and can click to zoom in on the dog. On the third click, a zombie jumps into the scene and screams.
4. Comments.
Probarbly the best tip around. READ THE COMMENTS FIRST. If they say it's scary or they are none because they are all delete by the creator, or comments are disabled, rise your suspision.
Thank you for reading, and read the other sections when they come!

Comments once saved my ears for good.
Actually, I don't need to worry about screamers, since I've seen a ton of them. I even use them to pull pranks on my friends.

Some projects are very quiet.
But this isn't the Scratch Projects section.
