I signed up to be a beta tester to test the new Laptop computer that Google and Intel is manufacturing! I got mine today and Windows, Mac, and Linux are worth nothing anymore!
This thing is BEAST and I opened it five minutes ago!

Wait, is it a computer or a laptop? And how, by chance, did a kid get it for free?

Number 1. It is a laptop. A netbook.
Number 2. I am 14, a teenager not a child. I told them I am interested in developing Chrome OS applications and I program in HTML, PHP, JavaScript, JQuery, SQL, and Python which are the languages used to develope chrome apps. I was chosen because I was one of the first to sign up.

Oh god, you sound like my friend.
Oh wait he's not my friend.
You sound like my acquaintance.

actually, it is a (not so) "SmartBook". I think these are really dumb. no games other than flash/java, no ms office, etc.

I suppose there's no need for MS Office on it cause of Google Docs. Also no IE/Firefox. It obviously uses Chrome.

Well, I am supposed to report bugs. I have found a few, they also want a few "Pilots" as they call people like me to use it and write about it. I am writing reviews for it on the web and places. You can still apply for one, but I am not so sure about the odds.
I freaking love this computer, but I don't think it will replace or even compete with Macs or Windows for a long time. The idea behind it is the Cloud concept. It has virtually no hardrive and all your documents, spreadsheets, and powerpoints are on Google Docs, which is an online word processor and document storage protocal. All your picture files can be saved on Google Picasa, which is an online photo storage cabinet. All files you download cannot be opened in any application because the OS is just a web browser, but you can save them and upload them to websites like Picasa and Google Docs as well as sharing them as email attachments.
Welcome back to scratch, Targethero! I haven't seen you in forever!

So basically, I can't run anything?
No Minecraft, or any type of downloadable game with files?

Actually, they completely failed to contact me. I came home from school and found a big box from Kentucky. It was a bit heavy. "Someone in Kentucky sent me a package of bricks?" I though, and when I opened it up and it said Google, I wasn't sure what it was because I applied a long time ago. Then I opened it and found the computer.
