Seriously, for the past few months the top viewed and loved categories have been occupied by about 10 different people. Mostly only seven or eight. It gets kinda boring seeing the same style and such on the front page all the time, no offense to those on the front page. Don't get me wrong, they're good projects and scratchers, but all the variety seems to be gone.

Well then im calling on YOU to revolutionize the front page and indeed ALL OF SCRATCH. Should you succeed you will be hounded by adoring fans for the REST OF YOUR LIFE, receive daily profits of over A KAJILLION DOLLARS, and have servents to cater to your EVERY WHIM and most RIDICULOUS DESIRES.
On a less dramatic note i have to agree

How could I not agree with you?

Don't worry. In a week or so, the front page will be dominated by 11 rather than 10...
Honestly, the front page would be much more populated if people who made good projects took the time to properly advertise them.

True and yay on the 11 people!

Yeah, I kind of agree with you. I've abandoned looking at the front page for a while except for the unique ones on Featured.

I disagree.
A lot of the people on the front page got there by spamming...

Ugh, you just realized this now? I never look at the front page except for my friend's latest

that's really the only way nowadays
spam your way to the front page, then keep a constant stream of mediocre/bad projects to retain fame
once you've done that congrats now you have both an overwhelming fanbase and a selection of people who hate you because they can do better

No, I've just been hoping that it would change.

Yeah, true. That's one reason I haven't really made anything lately.
I guess I could still force my way onto the front page if I wanted, but getting front paged doesn't seem as exciting anymore with all the same types of projects on there.

The real problem is that the majority of people on Scratch are 8 - 10 year olds. We'd probably have much better projects if the users of Scratch were older and/or more mature.

There are some people who have been featured multiple times (like me), but I think the featured row and curator row provide a lot of variety. I do agree that the Top Loved, Viewed, and Remixed rows are a bit monotonous and have been for a long time. I rarely look down there anymore.

That's why they moved it to the bottom.

Ten year olds aren't that bad.

Hmm. Age might contribute to the problem somewhat, but I think the main issue is the "get on the front page, get more famous, get more likely to get on the front page, get on the front page..." cycle.

I dislike the style and ego of anyone on the front page like that. (glitchfinder, SpriteMaster, etc)

I remember the days when good, varying stuff was on the front page

The last few months? This has been going on for about 2 years, just with different people.
I hope the rumors of a better frontpage with Scratch 2.0 are true.
