A Stickied Topic That Tells Users...

...to NOT make topics that say, "Flag this project!" It just exposes the inappropriate project to even more people.

I would write it myself, but I just wrote an essay for school and I can't write anything serious anymore.

Re: A Stickied Topic That Tells Users...

I don't think it's necessary to create a whole sticky for that... and where would it be put?  hmm

If one of those topics did occur, a moderator would remove the link and close the topic  tongue

Hmm... I wouldn't mind having a sticky topic about that. Lemme see if I can run this by the Scratch Team to see what they think.  smile

Re: A Stickied Topic That Tells Users...

I agree with you that we should tell people not to do that somewhere - but I'm not convinced that we need a whole sticky for that one idea...how often do we see those kind of topics?  Not all that often it seems to me.  And where would you put it?   Topics like that could appear in Miscellaneous, Show and Tell, or All about Scratch.

I do think it should be in our various guides to the forums though...particularly ones that are mentioned in iTopics.

It's not iTopic, it's ITopic - we're not making Apple products here  smile

And we'll ITopic this if it gets enough blocks in here - so keep things coming!

I definitely agree with you, but I'm also rather inclined to take Paddle2See's point of view - which forum would it go in? It isn't that often that we get topics like such and I think it's easier and less intrusive to just notify the user that creates it.

Re: A Stickied Topic That Tells Users...

I usually see them in Show And Tell. Maybe we could make it a global announcement to appear in every forum?

I only made this suggestion because I saw two of these kinds of projects in a week, but I agree with you. A sticky does seem a little big. Maybe you could put it here? http://scratch.mit.edu/forums/viewtopic.php?id=30842

Or you could make a topic with a list of things not to write on the forums and have a sections on topics?
