Scratch 1.4's MIDI won't work -- ONLY ON SCRATCH

I saw another topic for this, but this problem is different. The MIDI sounds on Scratch 1.4 won't work for me, but it doesn't have to do with MIDI volume. I play MIDI files all the time, with no problems. But on Scratch, no sound comes out. Why?

PS, programming blocks in the forum need to be updated.

I used to find this problem, too... I used to have a really old set of speakers, but then I got new headphones, and now they work...I have no idea why that would happen  hmm

Hm... Considering Wolfie1996's problem was fixed by purchasing a new set of speakers/headphones, so maybe that would be a reasonable solution for you?

okay, this veeeeery strange thing just happened... the sound is back on. either A) I recently used some new headphones or B) i coincidentally had the sound muted every time i played Scratch...

Re: Scratch 1.4's MIDI won't work -- ONLY ON SCRATCH

It's not the headphones. It's something called SW Synth, which controls the MIDI sounds the Scratch blocks produce. (on Windows only) At the bottom of your screen, in the taskbar, you should see a little megaphone. If you don't, click the arrow. Double-click the megaphone. The master volume controls should appear. The category in the middle is titled "SW Synth". For some people, this always resets to 0/100 volume. Simply drag the scroll bar up to the top. If this isn't the problem, click around a bit in the master volume window.

Note- Windows Media Player loves to shut off your SW Synth.
