Becoming a good programmer...

OK, This is NOT a tutorial in how to be a good programmer in scratch!  This is how to become a good programmer in GENERAL!

1) Start with one language - Scratch is probably the best program to start with, because of the drag 'n' drop system.  Scratch will teach you the basic idea of programming

2) Test your code, and test it again!  It's not much good making a program that doesn't work.  After you feel you have gotten rid of all the glitches and errors, supply a version to the general public, and ask them if they found any glitches / errors!

3) Don't program just to become famous!  Just don't!

4) Keep on improving your knowledge of the language!  It's no good just using the same codes over and over again, you might miss some better way of doing the exact same thing!

5) Once you feel you are ready to move on, Revise everything you've learned.  The codes you learn in one language, can be applicable to most other languages, or at least similar

Check back later, will update...

Re: Becoming a good programmer...

how true about Scratch being a good starting point! I am taking Computer Science and the first 2-4 weeks was very very very easy thanks to Scratch! Ex- If you want something to run if something is true, but not if it isn't, what do you use?
tongue  Same thing with AS3!

I do admit though Windows Me was less of an attempt to help people and more of an attempt to give them a rubbish copy of Windows 98  big_smile

Re: Becoming a good programmer...

I think after scratch you should learn HTML (the regular vearsion) because its very simple.

HMTL is quite different than Scratch; it's not even a programming language. I agree it's worth learning though.

Re: Becoming a good programmer...

Scratch is probably the best program to start with, sorry but its not (A) the best program to start with is C++ or C because of thier easy and simple access to all parts of computation , scratch is good to learn but as a sidehand (A)

IDK what code you're trying to use, but (A) and (A) have never been a command and you forgot the / in your second bolding [b] which should be

I'm glad to think that the community will always be kind and helpful, the language will always be a fun and easy way to be introduced into programming, the motto will always be: Imagine, Program, Share - Nomolos

C and C++ are great and all, but they're not very friendly to a programming newbie. Thus, it's better to learn the basic universal algorithms with Scratch first.
