These are just some basic guidelines for use of the show and tell forum.
1. Post only topics that are relevant to show and tell.
This includes advertising your galleries. projects. etc.
2. After you have posted a topic don't do things that could be considered 'spam'.
For example posting again and again on your own topic in an attempt to get more views is 'spam'.
3. Don't double post on anyones topics.
Double posting is when you post twice in a row with no reply in between.
4. Don't 'necropost' on topics.

Edited for clarity.
5. Don't flame or troll.
Flaming is when you get angry at someone and you post a potentially hurtful reply directed at them. Trolling is similar is is the act of posting inflammatory, irrelevant, or controversial material.
Necroposting is when you post on a topic that hasn't received attention in a very long time.
If I think of any more tips I will add them.

I might add somethings.
change spammy, to spam. Just for professionalism in the rules so it can be taken seriously.
In double posting, add Use the edit feature to avoid double posting.
Another rule would ofcourse have to be flaming and trolling.
If you need a definition for them just ask.

Thats kinda the definition, and the quote in inbetween the necroposts...
Trolling: Someone who posts a controversial post on purpose to start a fight/flame.
Flaming: When someone reacts to a post in an aggressive way causing other people to counter act in a more aggressive way, hence the flame name, causing the flame to spread out the thread.

Great idea to have some guidelines - I'm going to make it sticky

Uh whoops I kinda did the double posting one, but it won't happen again
The general rule in all forums is you're allowed to double post, if you're bumping your thread. You can only do a bump when its been 2 days of no activity, or its gone off the front page.

Bumping in general is generally considered a little bit of spam.

but what if i'm bumping with some new info about the game i'm working on? hmm actually i guess that'd be more spam than just the bump.
Edit: Oh yeah, I tried playing god's quest, it's hard but wicked cool. are there more enemies than the trolls cuz i really sucked at it and i died before i got past the 2nd enemy.

Necroposting isn't allowed?! On the Text-based Games forums I do it to revive interesting games. And I do it a lot!

Well what if you see an interesting topic that hasn't been used in a while and you want to post a message?

These are good tips, but I don't see why Necroposting is so bad.

I don't really understand why Necroposting is bad- can somebody explain it to me?
Dank U.

I do think that you should expand on rule #4. Why is necroposting bad? What counts as good and bad necroposting? That should be explained better.

I think what bad necroposting is is posting on really old forums- where they don't need any more attention. Some games don't get enough attention though. If they're 2 to 3 days old, and are actually good games, then wouldn't it be worth posting on them.
