obsidian generator is impossible. you can only create the amount of spout blocks you have.

EDIT: I has teh obsidians.

Also I found 4 diamonds, 2 gold, and 19 redstone in the cave I found

EDIT 2: And I found 42 coal traveling by boat ._.

I just went on a large mining expedition, returning with a ton of minerals including 166 coal.

Grab a bucket of water and drop it to get obsidian big_smile It can only be mined with a diamond pick though.

There was supposed to be an item called "Coco Beans" in 1.2 Beta to get brown wool dye, maybe that was the cacao.

Also I explored the cave system a little more, I've had lots of luck finding ore it seems. tongue I'm considering building a safe for them out of obsidian, with iron doors.
