All the experimental viewer is is a client to play the programs that other people have already created in Scratch. While expiremental viewer is a step forward, it definately doesn't solve the problem of online lag and does not address the issues users experience offline.

According to the Scratch Wiki Article, 2.0 is supposedly expected to be released this year, but they have not announced an expected date yet because re-writing Scratch is a big job.

Not sure if you're aware of this, but one of the main ideas behind the Scratch 2.0 development is to allow users to design and edit projects right in the web browser, eliminating the need to download anything; the experimental viewer is sort of like a prototype for Scratch 2.0 online (although an offline version is to be designed as well for those who have problems with internet access, so don't fret if you're worried). You can read more about it here.

In the meantime, why not try posting in the forum thread I mentioned earlier if you have some bugs in the online viewer you want to address some bugs or issues (such as lag, for example)?

Anyways, it shouldn't be about me finding a user-made alternative. It should be about the dev team supporting the users by consistently perfecting the program and the users, in return, supporting the team by visiting the site and being active.

I don't want to be hasty or come off as brash or hostile, but, as far as I know, the dev team has not released a single update, big or small, to Scratch. Correct me if I'm wrong, but otherwise, why is that?

Well, as stated before, the Scratch Team is making the big switch from Flash to Java, which means that they're in the process of a big overhaul of rewriting all of Scratch itself, which isn't easy.

The experimental viewer is currently the only view us normal users have into the development for Scratch 2.0 right now - hence why the Scratch Team is asking for feedback from normal users, so they can continue with their development. The more info they have, the faster they can work out some of the bugs and the sooner 2.0 can be released. 

Right, right, you guys are right. I just have ideas that can't be put to life in 1.4.
