Okay, something really weird happened today:
I had written a 5 page World War Two story for Language Arts, and decided to post it here on the forums for opinions (only a few of you guys saw it though). Then, when I sent it in, my teacher responded the next day and gave me a 0 for plagiarizing. I e mailed her and explained i never did any such thing and asked what made her think that. She explained that the school uses a "Check my Work" application, that surfs the web for similar material to make sure you didn't steal anything. Sure enough, they discovered the exact paper I wrote posted on a public forum, Scratch. I had to explain that this was my account. In the end, I had plagiarized my own work.
What mind boggling story's do you have to share?

That is completely horrible. >_< You could try logging on to your Scratch account with her watching, I don't know...

So, did you get the mark you were meant to get?

It seems to me that as the information on a Scratch project isn't contained as text, a program searching for plagerising wouldn't be able to read the contents of a Scratch project and search it for matching text. I may be wrong about this, but are you sure you didn't copy something from somewhere else?

There's only one sensible way to respond to this.

And that, children, is why you don't post stories on Scratch

That's horrible! Obviously the teachers have to be more careful about accusing people of plagiarism.

Bad bad bad.
You plagiarized yourself.
Maybe you didn't want your work taken. Maybe you worked hard on it.
Bad militarydudes.

This is why you don't put your homework on a public forum before handing it in -.-
