beary605, you submitted some amazing blocks here but I can't get the images fullsize, there's an error! Please could you share them again with us? p.s, use the "direct link" on imageshack!

Its really annoying when people use imageshack because Parental Controls blocks it as inappropriate.  mad   Please use a different image-hosting site.
And, it should be 'if you wish'.

Well, find a way around it, I don't think people are willing to change ~50 blocks to a different site.

Re: Welcome to the OLD local block library!

All parental controls (and any filtering software for that matter) will have a list of filtered keywords that block a site, a blacklist of sites to never allow, and an exceptions list of sites to allow. Explain the problem and ask your parents nicely to make sure imageshack is not on the blacklist and that it is on the exceptions list, I for one do NOT have the time to move all those images off of imageshack and don't want to have to create yet another user account unto which new blocks are loaded. Sorry.

My parents said no to imageshack.  If its blocked, its not being unblocked.  I know that you don't have the time to move them all, but why not just upload new ones somewhere else?

When the block library website is set up, the images will probably be uploaded directly from the user's computer, meaning that they will not use imageshack, and you will be able to view them  smile

Re: Welcome to the OLD local block library!

When the block library is set up, the user will be asked to upload their block image somewhere and link to it, unless we can find a way to link the upload to one account on an image host, in which case I will avoid that one being imageshack  smile

Suggestion for it- remove the part about the ITopic, as its not a forum.

Mine did too. What is your parental controls called? I have been through 3 different ones, AOL (when I was 3-7) was one that just had you log in with no Time Limit. K9 was worse than i have now, I couldn't even log in! Which meant I had to ask my parents to unblock it and use all my time at once! Also If I didn't use all the time it would still be counting down, even when there was no browser open! Now I have IBOSS:
When I go to a blocked website:

When I log in:

If you are reading this, please read to the end, because if you don't you won't know what's at the end. Don't just skip to the end though otherwise you won't be able to read the middle, which is most important. Now you must be wondering why you just read all that, the reason is you may have not noticed something, read it again and see if you notice it this time  smile

So here's how it looks like when I look at the block library:
http://www.freeimagehosting.net/uploads/60ff5bcd4c.jpg
but sometimes, it blocks the images!
http://www.freeimagehosting.net/uploads/d9078392dd.jpg
but when i click to see the code for a BYOB block, here's what comes up:
http://www.freeimagehosting.net/uploads/cde82deb0b.jpg

I just have regular Windows Vista Parental Controls.

Can't everyone just stop putting the new ones on imageshack?
I use freeimagehosting.net

Re: Welcome to the OLD local block library!

Mistaken link for the BYOB error reporter.
Only links to the block picture instead of the script.  Still, it's probably only
[report ( (0) / (0) )]
but you should fix the link.

Re: Welcome to the OLD local block library!

This is a great topic! I have a question though. I want to add motion blocks to the Stage . (namely, the 'make %m move %n steps), but it always says "Stage selected: No motion blocks". How can I add motion blocks to the Stage?

Re: Welcome to the OLD local block library!

Ok so this may sound a little wierd but, I am adding a HAT block to the library, as you can see on my sig I have fixed it and hello(insert a bunch of random numbers here) told me to enter it

Picture:
http://www.weebly.com/uploads/5/4/1/3/5413503/5619805.gif?353

Block spec:

('When %b is true' #W #-)

Under Scratch-Blocks -> WhenHatBlockMorph -> other
put two codes

Code:

step
    self evaluateCondition ifTrue: [self start]

and

Code:

stepTime
    ^ 0.2

What it does: Allows you to insert any boolean into the
[blocks] <<  >> [/blocks]
insert.

Notes:

The when hat block will not work if you are in presentation mode

This block will not work online if you upload it

This block will be obsolete in Experimental viewer

If somone uses this block in a project and you download the project they made it in, the block will work!

(which makes it a almost totally non working block.)

Re: Welcome to the OLD local block library!

Here is my first block:

http://img826.imageshack.us/img826/9631/makemmovensteps.gif

Blockspec:

'make %m go to x:%n y:%n' #- #make:gotoX:y:

Code:

make: sprite gotoX: t1 y: t2
       sprite gotoX: t1 y: t2

What it does:
Allows one sprite to move another sprite to a certain location, without broadcast!

Re: Welcome to the OLD local block library!

improved version of the search block:
spec:

Code:

('%j %s' #- #doThis:on: 'google' 'scratch')

method (sensing ops):

Code:

doThis: t1 on: t2
    'google' = t1 ifTrue: [ScratchPlugin primOpenURL: 'http://www.google.com/#sclient=psy&hl=en&q=' , t2 , '&aq=f&aqi=g5&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=&pbx=1&fp=ab5cdb1806fef4aa&safe=activet1'].
    'yahoo' = t1 ifTrue: [ScratchPlugin primOpenURL: 'http://search.yahoo.com/search;_ylt=Aj.OqjGVrkBmY6mZqA_PSu.bvZx4?p=' , t2 , '&toggle=1&cop=mss&ei=UTF-8&fr=yfp-t-701'].
    'scratch.mit.edu/' = t1 ifTrue: [ScratchPlugin primOpenURL: 'http://scratch.mit.edu/' , t2].
    'search scratch for' = t1 ifTrue: [ScratchPlugin primOpenURL: 'http://scratch.mit.edu/pages/results?cx=010101365770046705949:gg_q9cry0mq&cof=FORID:11&q=' , t2 , '&safe=active&sa=search'].
    'IMDB' = t1 ifTrue: [ScratchPlugin primOpenURL: 'http://www.imdb.com/find?s=all&q=' , t2].
    'wikipedia search for' = t1 ifTrue: [ScratchPlugin primOpenURL: 'http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special%3ASearch&redirs=0&search=' , t2 , '&fulltext=Search&ns0=1'].
    'load' = t1 ifTrue: [^ 0].
    ^ 0

also put in sensing ops:

Code:

engineNames
    ^ #('google' 'yahoo' 'scratch.mit.edu/' 'search scratch for' 'wikipedia search for' 'IMDB' 'load' )

then go to Scratch-Blocks -> CommandBlockMorph instance -> private -> uncoloredArgMorphFor:
add:

Code:

    $j = t2 ifTrue: [^ ChoiceArgMorph new getOptionsSelector: #engineNames;
         choice: 'google'].

also searches wikipedia!
