Games don't work

A lot of games that seem fun and have variables don't work and instead of whatever the variable is supposed to say, it says the number 123  sad  -------Know why? If you do can you tell me please. Anyone else have this problem?

Hey Tux...sounds like an interesting problem.  No, I can't say for sure that I've seen this one (although I did have some variables set themselves to 123 in one project for a while, then I changed something and they stopped).  I would love to see an example of this, if you can give us a link to it.

I don't think you would see it, because on other computers the games work. Anyway, here are some projects that don't work: http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/Zelda123/209955 and http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/Zelda123/209955.  sad

Those games work on an XP computer.
They don't work on a Vista computer.
Do you think that can be the problem?

Re: Games don't work

not sure if this should go here but i get a variable block problem when i import a project into another project.. i have to change so refresh most of the variable blocks..
it also happened when i downloaded paddle2see's merry go round.. i had to refresh the variable blocks for the midi dr zhivago tune to play..
also when importing a project with a list.. i always find i have to remake the list (as its deleted automatically somehow) and that i have to refresh most of the blocks referring to the list in the same way as the variable..
it seems to defeat the purpose of having the import project item in the menu.. to help make it easier to construct projects. and probably i am only mentioning problems with blocks that are already known..

Re: Games don't work

Not a variable block problem..but sprite problem ...
i did have a weird occurence when using duplicated stamp sprites.. to save time i duplicated one and then tried to change what costume and where it stamped from the original.. eg when i recieve broadcast..
if i changed one or other of the sprites they both seemed to react to the changed broadcast.. where in previous versions of scratch there was no problem.. everything could be made to work independent of the other after duplication..
everything was working on duplicate as though it was still was part of the original..or the original part of the duplicate.
(and i did doubly check the when i recieve hatted block at the time.)

Re: Games don't work

I tried to make a sprite twist in a circle, stop, and twist in the opposite direction, but it didn't work. It actually looked like it was twitching.

Sounds like it could be the Scratch installation on your Vista computer. Maybe try reinstalling? That often helps.

Edit: Just realized that this topic is very old. >_<
