I've recently downloaded two proffesional modeling programs Autodesk. And because I'm a student in full-time education I can get it for free. Now, no garuntees that this will be the same for other people. But I'm geussing that if you have a school email address you can get it aswell.
Not all Autodesk software is available for free though.

Not really. Its a free license for 3 years which, I geuss, includes upgrades.
What you do is go onto the website.
sign up here http://students.autodesk.com/?nd=register&tagent=BTS-Dotcom-JG-9-16-2010 and you should be all set to download.
There may be more to it as I signed up before they changed to the 3 year license. Somethings weren't available then and somethings were available for ever whereas things like 3ds Max were only a 6 month free license. Now its all the more awesome!
