Hey Scratch members!

You saw my title and probably said "Hey! Why do we need a guide on how to flag? We just hit 'report' or 'flag this project/comment'", but that is only a very small portion of the guide. Also in this guide, when referred to flagging a forum post, it is reffering to the concept of reporting it.

Part 1, What is flagging?

Flagging is when you click to report or flag a comment, post or project because it is inappropriate, or breaking the Terms Of Use. Flagging is what cleans up the Scratch community. Once an item or aspect is flagged, it is reported to the scratch team, and moderators to view, and possible remove if the reason you present (when flagging, you have to have a reason) makes sense.

Part 2, Why Flag?

Flagging, as I said, cleans the Scratch community. It removes all non-child friendly content that could be viewed. Flagging is an aspect that lets normal Scratchers help out in our community, without having to have some type of special permission.

You may also flag a comment or post if it is spam.

Flagging gets you no reward, so don't expect some super special award for flagging, just do so to be helpful, and you will be commended by the Scratch team for Flagging, and not fighting.

Part 3, don't get flagged!

You may say, "Hey, I'm a good kid, I won't get flagged," but you have to know why people would flag. If most of your projects are inappropriate and have been flagged, it is unlikely that people will want to view your projects, let alone you were being disrespectful. Most important of all, if enough of your comments, posts and projects have been flagged properly due to an inappropriate reason, you will be banned! If you are banned, you may not correspond with any of the Scratch community in any way. Your projects cannot be submitted, and in some cases viewed, you cannot talk in the forums, and you cannot leave comments. Nothing may be done!

So don't give anyone a reason to flag you! And if something bad comes up, flag, don't fight!

Part 4, Flagging in disguise

When flagging, it may not always appear to you as flag, and may appear as something such as "Report" or "Report this comment" or something like that. They leave the same effect as flagging a project or comment does, and is still as useful.
