2007 was the year scratch was made. I'm okay with 2008ers getting a little something to. If you don't agree, Don't say it meanly... (I've already been trolled enough ._.)
But just saying. If you agree great, and if you disagree oh well.

A little something of what? Cake?

Technically, I started *using* Scratch in 2007. So I think I deserve a little something, too.
But realistically, I don't think idea has a particularly large amount of merit. Just because certain users joined in 2007 does not give them any more or less value than those having joined in 2008, 2009, 2010, or, shortly, 2011. We're all people, regardless of what year we joined Scratch.

Yeah, well...
I don't think 07's should get a new name like "scratch 07er"
I changed mah muind

Then should 08s get a "Scratch 08er" nickname? And 09s? 10s? 11s? I don't quite like the idea of setting people apart by the date they joined as it really doesn't mean anything.

Why should older users get a reward just for joining at an earlier time?
@coolstuff: Agreed. ;D

Why should older Scratchers be rewarded for that?

You must give a/many very good reason/s why for even the slightest thought towards agreement from most users and most likly the Scratch Team as well.

Yeah, for 2007 people there could be a title instead of "scratcher" maybe "old-school scratcher" or something of the like. I wouldn't really call that favoritism for those people who are saying thats favoritism, but I would call that acknowledgement for all those people who joined in 2007, which they do deserve.

It isn't right to single out users who joined in 07 and 08. Some 07/08ers are hardly active nowadays anyway.

Wait... Scratch was created in 2007? I had no idea. I'd love having some sort of recognition for joining then, but I don't think it would be fair to get something too special.
I agree that maybe there should be something. But nothing too outrageously unfair, nothing that sort of deliberately splits everyone apart.

No, joining earlier does not make you special. But a little something for positive contributes would be cool. Like a "Helpful" title for helpful people or "Conest Winner" for people who win some sort of contest.

I don't think it's necessary, but maybe, Senior members for older scratchers, junior members, etc. and new Scratchers?
Offline
I simply don't think it's right to set up any ranks or rewards to Scratchers just because they joined earlier than others...

I see no difference between any Scratchers of any join date.

not a good idea.
it might make newer people feel bad that they didn't hear about it earlier

well, it isn't right to give titles to people who have joined in a specific year, but the small amount of 07'ers like myself have helped a lot of people and we have stuck with scratch for a long time. (I started in fourth grade making spinning cat animations and now I am in 8th grade teaching a scratch class at my school.) I think instead of the title 07'er or 11'er we can have titles like "Scratcher for four years" and "Just joined" that way, if you stick with it, it can go up.

In most communities I've been in, separating users by their join date just causes problems, imagine what would happen here in Scratch - a kids website. So no, no reward or recognitions for 07ers, you already have the bragging rights.

+1 Problems like "haha I'm older than you, I get more options".

Maybe for if anyone has been here for a year or two, it could say something like "Long-time Scratcher".
