I want to do something different for a game. A friend of mine says platformers are (were) overused here? I want to try combining some ideas.

Hey shadowydepths, the Scratch Forums is a place for talking about the Scratch programming language. If you haven't done so already, try downloading Scratch here so you can get stared on learning about Scratch, meet other Scratchers, and become more involved in the Scratch community . 

Well that's neat. mabye I can work on learning Japanese here if that's what it for ^_^". But other than that this place sounds great I'm a member on many sights but none of them have a language thing so I'm kinda glad i found this website.

Ah, maybe you might have misunderstood my first post. ^^;

The Scratch Forums is for learning a programming language called Scratch - we use the Scratch programming language to design games, animations, simulations, things like that.

Although... I do have a project gallery for those who designed Scratch programs for helping others to learn other languages (take a look here. Who knows, maybe you can design a Scratch program that does something similar). 

Oh yeah sorry. Like I said I've never been on a site like this I've mostly played on sites like Tinierme, Neopets, and Sutaro Sketcher Oekaki (aka SSO) (theres more than that but I don't want to bore you with my long list of sites ^_^"). But designing games, animation, all that other stuff sounds amazing o^u^o I'd love to try it out when not on my school computer (Have to wait till I get off grounding =_ . And the project gallery sounds like fun so I'll check it out 

how do you make an animation i haven't got that figured out yet? :lol

Scratch can definitely be used for making animations, as well as other things like games or simulations. One of the great things about Scratch is that all projects uploaded to the Scratch website for download, so you an download a Scratch animation program to study it and see how it works. If you need any help with designing a project in Scratch, feel free to drop by the All About Scratch forums, and someone there will be able to help you.
