I have been recently interested in a mental disorder by the name of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, or OCD. I have watched a lot of episodes of the television series, Monk, and I have read the latest Artemis Fowl book, the Atlantis Complex, by Eoin Colfer, and I have done some research on it. I am just curious as to what you know about it.
I know it is not a very well-known disorder, and it is confused for ADD, ADHD, Autism, and other mental disorders. If you don't know what OCD is, then go here, here, and here. I would like to see what knowledge I can collect from you, the internet people of Scratch.
Oh, and incase you are wondering of my robust interest in OCD, it's because I have a slight case of it. It's not too bad, I mean, I can still function well, and live my life, but I have a few compulsions, and little rituals. I would also like to see if any of you know people who have it, and what they are like. Besides for fictional characters, and my sister (who only has a slighter case than me), I have never really met anyone who has OCD.
EDIT: Changed words "disease" to "disorder" - Thanks militarydudes

It's not a disease FWI. If it were, they would call it "Obsessive Compulsive Disease.
My brother thought he had OCD, but he doesn't.
I have Asperger Syndrome (AS). It's an Autism Spectrum Disorder.

The same cells that fight off the flu are the cells that destroy a part of the tissue in your brain causing OCD. That's what I read in a book. Of course it isn't that kind of disease, it's a disease of the mind, but it's not contagious. For clearness, (or if I'm wrong) I'll change it.

I have OCD. What does it have to do with the Atlantis Complex? That's more like Multiple Personality Disorder.

I have OCD, as well as ADD and Aspergers.

ADD/ADHD doesn't come coupled with OCD either.

I have a friend with a slight case of it.
My one teacher made fun of people who acted like they had it. One kid asked him to erase a dot on the white board because it was bothering her, and in response he took a marker and put about 10 more dots on it, and then said "Better?" He was an awesome dude.

I kinda feel like I have it but I'm not really sure. I get overworked by some pretty small things though, and worried easily so im not sure

You dont have to be born with it too have it, you can be it on certain things, like making sure to go to a website before you goto sleep.

When I first read the title, I read "Obsessive Computer Disorder".

Not really. Sounds like an idiot.

That's like asking why a pear doesn't come with an apple.

Here are some of my own compulsions and rituals.
1. At school I touch every doorknob I pass by.
2. I love the numbers ten, zero, one, six, sixty.
3. I hate the number eight.
4. Some things just have to be straight.
5. If multiple things are aligned in a square-ish shape
like this, or something like it:
•••••••••••
•••••••••••
••••••••••
•••••••••
••••••••• Then I just have to realign it to a perfect 5X10 array, but that depends on the amount of dots.
6. All doors have to be closed, or I cannot sleep.
7. I put too much emotional value on objects, making it hard to rid of it in any way. (EG I didn't talk for two days when my mom got a new car without telling me)
8. I have an especially hard time letting go of water bottles.
9. I don't like to be around babies. (They're too messy)
10. I count things. A lot of things.
11. I have an odd urge to remember things. (License plates, phone numbers, names, etc)
12. I'm always scared that I could have hurt someone by accidentally doing something.
13. I do this thing with my fingers where I tap each finger with my thumb and do it backwards then start again.
14. Every few seconds I open my mouth then close it.
There you go. Fourteen things you probably didn't know about me.

There is a difference between having OCD, and doing little things like that. I mean, everyone has their little compulsions and rituals here and there, but people with OCD are like that to the power of ten.

Like I said before, that's more of just one compulsion rather than actually having OCD.

You probably don't. I do that kind of stuff too, but that's more of my personality than it is OCD.

LOL!!! That's hilarious! If I were that kid, I would have gone up there and erased all of the dots with my sleeve.

Of course not, because a couple means two!
Why not?
Because OCD is Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. It has nothing to do with attention deficiency.

It is a combination of OCD, MPD, and other stuff like that.

I'm saying I have both OCD and ADD.

I have OCD. I hate when things aren't symmetrical. I hate getting my clothes dirty. I like all of my school work to be alligned as so:
------------------------------------------------- (paragraph #1)
--------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------
If they are a bit off in allignment, i get mad. It also really bothers me when there are marks on things, like boards, or graphite marks on things in my pencil box. I also have the odd compulsion to type up MS word documents.
OCD isn't fun, even though in cases it's helpful, because it bothers you when something doesn't go your way, like allignment, or marks.

I doubt you do, it's unlikely but not impossible, but they mean it's not the same disorder.
@Nextstudent: I don't have OCD, but I also hate random marks on boards and stuff, or when a teacher doesn't completely erase something and leaves it. Ugh.

I do. We first thought I only had aspergers, but then our psychiatrist said I have both, with aspergers.
