Hey everyone -
The network changes is something done by the Media Lab services, not specifically the Scratch Team. Since our servers are hosted at the Media Lab, our site will be down while they make updates to the network. Nothing to be alarmed about, but this means we will be offline for some of the weekend (hopefully not for too long!)
Thanks for your patience and understanding 
In the meantime...I urge you all to go outdoors and get some sunny inspiration for some new projects!

Does it have to do with being 1.3 compatible? Cause it's almost out. And don't worry about getting outside- got two season openers this weekend

I don't think it would be to do with v1.3 - it runs on the same software (Java) so no server updates are required for any Scratch updates. It's up to the user to keep updated with Java so to keep the latest Java Virtual Machine (JVM).**
Perhaps they are transferring from their old server/s to new one/s? Just a guess.

As dingdong said - the're probably won't be any changes at all. Just some faster servers (?), faster connection (?).
Probably Scratch just knocked down all servers there at the MIT Media Lab...

Actually they are just moving some of the servers because of the construction of a new Media Lab building. Nothing too exciting
