Hi.
For christmas, mum(How we say Mom in british) got me Halo 3. Leter that day, dad told me NOT to play it, as the BBFC (British MPAA) rating is 15.
Now this sparks in intresting thing, if you compare Halo's content to that of CoD, Halo is no-where near inappropriate as CoD, even if they have similar reason why they are rated M in the US(CoD is 18 in the uk, so even the british know that the content in Halo as not like that of CoD)
"Bt Halo IS VIOLNT"
Sure, almost ALL games have some sort of violence in them. Mario has, Sonic has, Kirby has and so on. The alien "Blood" is almost comparable to that of glowstick liquid. The only reason why CoD got an 18 was because you arn't shooting at aliens like in Halo, but realistic (Don't troll me! D:) humans. You can kill your human allys, but this is discouraged and you will be shot at if you continue your behaviour.
"OMG SWEAR WRDS OLOLOLOLOL!"
Yes, I know. But the one SERIOUS swear I heard from a soldier (Not the sarge) was because he got in the way of Guilty Sparks lazer. That said, the swear was in the PG rated "Extraordinary Measures", and the 12A (PG-13 in the UK) rated "Son of Rambo"(Of course there is gonna be swearing in it, it's about a boy RECREATING Rambo!!). The rest of the minor launguage got into PG's and 12's, too. In other words, the only reason Halo is 15 is because of the violence.
"BUT THT DUN MAK DIFERENCE, UR STILL 2 YUNG!"
Yeah yeah. But parents really need to decide if the child getting the game is going to be mature when the mature content shows up. In other words, if the child isn't going to be silly or react in a silly way when a swear word comes up. People can't rely on the PEGI ratings forever, it's really there as a guide for parents. It isn't even backed up by law, so it's nothing more than just saying "If your going to get this game, take note that (Content) is in the game. Do you really think you and the player could be able to handle this content?"
It's very long, I know. But it's the only way you can get a point across.

Well, are your parents divorced? If not, than your mom should've checked with your Dad before hand.
From experience playing it, it's violent but not as violent as your average M (or 15+ in England) game. You're also shooting aliens instead of humans.

They were never married.(In fact, mum and dad are in 2 diefferent familys[Spelling])
The real reason she got it was because she thought it was a Kinect game.
(Seriously? Halo 3 was made in 2007!)
Also, I have played it at a friends house, and I did mention that you are shooting aliens.

To be honest Halo really isn't that violent...Its just as bad as 08Jackt's Zombie games...

Halo isn't bad at all except for a few minor swears. The violence isn't even realistic on Halo 3. It's more realistic on Reach though.

1. I really don't see the difference between aliens and people.
2. You make a fair point with 2# and 3#.
3. I don't think getting a few kids to agree with you would make your parents change their mind.
4. Well, it's your parent's decision.
5. I've never thought of killing people to be very fun.

That's because reach is a much more serious game. It has a serious story where(OMG SPOILERS) your ally's die in front of your own eyes, Serious characters that are the only hope against the Covenant, and a very serious colour pallete. Only the first level has colourful areas and plants, then it's just shades of grey and black from then on...

What are you talking about? The game isn't black and grey... You must've had your TV mess up.

Meh, that's just how dark the game is. the colours just darken after the first level, you know, dark blues, reds, yellows, ECT?

Yea. They fit the mood of the game though, seeing as how the planet is being glassed and destroyed.

Even if the planet didn't get glassed until THE END OF THE GAME.

halo=violent, some blood spray, but no gore, and language
CoD=violent, blood, gore, language
i got black ops for christmas, but i don't play it when my parents are around, because i know that they would take it away (once they found out how violent it is...)

IMO all the age ratings are [removed]. People are waay too paranoid about violence. You can't take a case of a mentally disabled person and say everybody will go on killing sprees if they play a violent game.
Swearing, same thing.

In the US, M-Rated is 17 years or older, and I am less than that by more than 3 years(I am not saying my age), and Halo isn't that bad to me. I have Halo 3, and the only bad thing is a few swears in the campaign. There is barely any blood, and you can barely see it, and the violence is pretty much equivalent to any shooting game.

Having kids doesn't require being married.

Here is somthing I forgot to mention.
My mother is as strict as my dad, but she put her CD in and ejected the Halo 3 disk out, and did nothing. No reaction, No shouting at me, nothing. The rating was on the disk, too.
