You mean NetScratch, the thing they released betas of but than said it will never come out and took away the betas? That multiplayer server thign you're talking about?

Creating the option to host multiplayer games, although I would love it, would probably be too much work.
The amount of users that use Scratch, if they all play the same game, the server CPU is going to be going flat out to cope with all the requests. This would slow people down who are playing the game, slow everything else down that is running on the server down and maybe, if they have a bandwidth contract, push the price of that up.
It is possible but it is costly. They would have to invest in more Servers and spread the load of the games out.
Nevertheless I would love to see the option of networking available!
I'd be happy if they just could allow us to set cookies with Scratch

I never thought of how hard it would be to do that dX I wish there was an "online" category to connect with internet stuff on scratch. so maybe you could set the highscores for a game to a website with a highscore board software
then you could see EVERY score made and you could program testers to see where you would appear on the hi score board
