I had a link in my signature which caused you to download a project from my test account thanking you for clicking on the link on my signature.
I then recieved a notification from Scratch Team saying it was "deceptive" and telling me to stop trying to "game the community".
Really? REALLY?

I seriously don't think that's what the Scratch Team wanted...
Hey, it's not what I wanted either but who cares?

Your signature is wrong by the way
Post counts themselves are very real, but the meaning to them is just a figment of our imaginations

Yep really. I suppose it's not as big a deal as it used to be, since we don't front page the top downloaded projects anymore. However, your signature had a link and the title was something like "Like this post?" which didn't seem to bear any relationship to downloading a project. So I jumped to the conclusion that you were trying to bump up the download count for one of your projects. Sorry if that was not the case.
It's great that you made it so much clearer with your new signature - thanks!

If you were asked to change something, I am sure it had a reason. The Scratch Team makes anything but corrupt decisions.

Like banning RHY from posting a project?
Like banning turntechgodhead for insignificant reasons?
No offence to Scratch Team, don't wanna be banned, but they have made some bad decisions.
Now that I nearly derailed the topic, let's get back.

Now, there were reasons for RHY's ban, and we are not to get into that.
I am sure they did not just "feel like" taking down your sig.
I am very sure there is a reason. If you disagree with me, that is fine. We all have our own views.

No offense to you, but I disagree. The decisions were made with the information available at the time. Not that I speak for the whole team, but I personally have seen no new credible information that shows that any mistakes were made in those cases.
However - let's get back on track. Do you understand the logic behind why your signature created concern?

I do understand. However, I would be less angry if the project I had linked to had been a "You Fail" or one of my good projects just to get attention. Since there is no like this post, the download total not only said how many likes I had gotten, it also was a prize for the community.
But I think this thread has served it's purpose

I love the project that it links to but I have to agree with Paddle that, in general, any download link that does not identify itself as such is frowned upon by the internet at large. No matter the intent, it can be unnerving or unwanted.
No harm done, though, and this is certainly an interesting discussion.
