I'm surprised that nobody has tried to simulate the Sugar OS that comes with the OLPC. If you go to the OLPC wiki there's a lot of information about it. It's quite a nice little interface.

Indeed, it is a challenge I hereby issue!
I don't have an OLPC, but I do have an image of Sugar that runs in an emulator, and it's fun to play with. It's not exactly fast, but if you want to see it in action, here's a link to the emulator:

Thanks for the link! I doubt I'll be able to try that anytime soon but it looks fun. I've tried to emulate some "zooming" interfaces in Scratch before without overwhelming success.
