Laptop or Desktop?

Would you rather use a laptop or a desktop? Why?

I would use my laptop because one, it is 4 times faster (my desktop is 2G, my laptop is 8Gig). It has a much smoother keybored. Its more mobile and conftorable. And just its packed with way more featurs

What I mean is that with desktops, people can see the screen whereas laptops are for laps (hence the name), and you can't see what's hidden on your lap. ;

What about people staring at your lap?

Re: Laptop or Desktop?

I have both a Desktop and a Netbook. I prefer the Desktop for gaming (6GB of RAM, 2.6GHz Dual Core Processor, 1GB Vid Card, more fun features), but my Netbook for the portability.

I used to be a laptop only person, but that's cause that's all I had for 7 or so years, and never had a gaming rig. Now I do.

Re: Laptop or Desktop?

Laptop for portability, Desktop for power.

A 500 dollar desktop is twice as powerful as a 500 dollar laptop. Saying that one has more features than the other just means the operating systems are different.

Re: Laptop or Desktop?

Laptop, largely because of portability and it usually requires less energy to run.  smile

Re: Laptop or Desktop?

Laptops - I have a desktop, so whenever I'm on this computer I'm confined to this horribly uncomfortable little chair. But maybe it's for the best - I spend far too much time on the computer, anyways.

Mine isn't a top-o-the-line rig. I am happy with what I have.

My netbook, on the other hand, has a 1.6Ghz Atom processor (they all do, I think) and 1GB of RAM. How it performs as well as it does, I have no clue.

The computer I use half the time only has 256MB RAM and a 1.3GHz processor. Mind you, it's painfully slow and probably takes about a half hour to start up. I've been pushing for my mom to get a new computer.  tongue

Re: Laptop or Desktop?

I would rather use a desktop because they have bigger monitors, but I really like the mobility of my laptop.

Re: Laptop or Desktop?

Desktop. To be honest, I generally leave my laptop in the same place, so portability isn't really a benefit for me. With a desktop, you not only get better components for the same price, but you can upgrade down the line. Plus, desktops tend to have better cooling systems.
