I suggest a version of scratch for Netbooks. I have an Eee PC, and I have to use my parent's computers for scratch, which is an annoyance. I am sure that many others have my situation. So why not build a netbook version of scratch? All you would have to do is make everything smaller...

Hey SlowDrip, Scratch 1.4 has netbooks in mind and can appropriately resize to a small screen. Or perhaps you are asking for an improvement to this?

Sorry to hear you are having trouble running Scratch! When you say it doesn't work...can you be a little more specific? Does it not run at all or are you only seeing a portion of the screen or what?

Scratch does support Linux! If you have an Eee PC, try installing the Ubuntu Scratch package (the file that ends with .deb). If remember correctly, I think the EEE PC uses a version of Linux that is similar to Ubuntu.

Oh, I just realized I have 1.3. But it gives me an error when I try to install:
"ERROR: Dependency is not satisfiable: libcairo2"
My libcairo2 is up to date. What's going on?
(I think it's time to move this to troubleshooting...)

Hmm, it may be that the repository that your EEPC uses has an old copy of that library.
This kind of thing can get tricky. You can try to find a newer version of that package that will work with your EEPC, but in my experience that just leads to more dependency problems. You could consider installing something like this on your system:
http://www.ubuntu.com/netbook
As that is more like a true Ubuntu distribution, so should be able to run / install Scratch just fine.

I have that installed. My dad installed Ubuntu on this a long time ago.
And it seems libcairo2 is up to date here...

I was using Scrtatch on my Eepc 1000 H , with Windows XP and was working fine. Some difficulties with the screen size but not a big problem.

Yep - but, as Cheddargirl mentioned, there are options that downsize the stage so you get the full area for scripting. Irregardless, this looks to be more of an issue with Linux than it is with the netbook.
