Project Viewing

Well, I've been making projects for years, but it seems that my projects aren't being viewed much. Sure it makes sense for interest, but it ain't fair that that only the best gets front-viewed. For n00b members, or ones not seen, I believe, that projects made should be widely shown for users to see. People are leaving because people usually don't comment or do anything and get bored. well, it is hard to deal with, but it is a problem. For example, I made a project: http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/WarriorNinja22/1502999. It's very good. However, most people don't see it. Here are some ideas:

-The Scratch website in all must be a little forum like. This means, projects can serve as new comments, and can receive comments, get pinned as featured, and etc. A separate general area can talk about anything else or advertising your projects.

-The front page's newest projects should have a longer line and more broader line of new projects.

-The front page should be expanded and should be refreshed daily with new viewed projects. For example, a new project comes up, which is very good. However, it isn't much seen. At the front, you can see several projects like glitchmaster's swifty2's, Spritemaster's etc, yet they don;t change often.

-There should be a "Spotlight" for at least 3-5 random projects around for users to look at.

-New categories should be made to clearly sort out the projects for different users to see.

These are the ideas I have come up for now. Please take note. Projects made by users should be seen more, than ones who are popular and getting all the credit. Possibly, I believe that everyone's views must be shown before giving opinions on other things.

Re: Project Viewing

Interesting! I don't think I perfectly agree with the "forum" setup of the website. Frankly, it's a bit confusing and might ward off certain members who just see a jumble of text rather than our friendly homepage. I think three projects in every category on the front page works admirably, any more than that would draw little attention to each of the projects. We used to have "Surprise Projects" on the front page, which drew certain attention to a few randomly selected projects, which is rather tying into your "spotlight." I think there was some talk about customizing the front page so that only projects with certain tags could get on there, but in the end it turned out to be too much work for too little payoff.

If you're interested in getting your projects more popular, perhaps you should take a look at this topic - I'm sure you'll find it useful.
