Featured... *Sigh*

Yeah, anyhow I got one of my projects "Featured" (Scratch's Thanksgiving Food Grab), it made me realize how many people view "Featured" projects. Unfortunately most of my other projects did not get popular, only the "Featured" project. I assumed it would make me popular, however I have less views on all of my other projects combined than my one "Featured" project.

Please explain...

Re: Featured... *Sigh*

People usually only take the time to view the project on the front page then go back to the home page or the forums.

It's a rather lazy society.

+1 I don't think users are usually interested in checking out more of someone's projects.  sad

I know, I don't consider myself lazy really, but a majority of people are.

Re: Featured... *Sigh*

I don't know; one of my projects got featured and some of my other projects got a bunch of views too. Naturally, they didn't get as many views, but they got a good amount.

Re: Featured... *Sigh*

The only stuff of mine that has a good amount of views is one project that got curated and one in Scratch Design Studio, so I'd agree that the front page is the place that the most people view, by far.

People only look at the featured project because they don't take the time to click on one of the links on the "More projects by this user" list. They want to view other featured projects instead.

I have a similar issue to yours, in which my featured project has a ridiculously larger number of views, fave, love-its, and comments than my other comments.

if it were my guess, maybe more people prefer project diversity among different users rather than seeing projects made by the same user. I watch different users whose projects I like, but that doesn't necessarily mean I'll fave or love everything they create; I'd happen to think maybe some users do the same.

Yeah, but I think most people assume that projects made by the same user are similar, either in style, or in coding.  hmm

Re: Featured... *Sigh*

I have had the fortune to have two of my projects curated (out of 48).  And while getting on the front page helped those projects tremendously, my formula for finding a project's popularity keeps telling me that one of my non-featured projects is actually more popular than either of the two featured ones, lol.

Oh, and kind of off-topic, but five of my projects hold 50% of my popularity!

Same here. I have one project that has like 200 views, an all my others have 3-50 views.

And they also want to spend more time on getting their own projects onto the front page or having more views for themselves. This is how society works-kind of selfish how man is like and...hypocritical.

The more views and popular one gets, the more selfish one seems. Being popular is not everything on Scratch; it's having fun.  big_smile

Scratch on!!!

Re: Featured... *Sigh*

There are a couple ways that you can encourage people to check out your projects:
1. In the notes of your featured project, write something like "If you enjoyed this, you will also enjoy (link to project)", or "Check out my latest project (link to project)."
2. Respond to peoples comments on your project.

Hope that helped  smile
