I think the Scratch Team knows that. What they can't tell (nor can anyone else tell) is the actual tone of voice behind the comment when the comment is conveyed over the internet. That's why there's an emphasis on being respectful in typing posts and comments. ^^

With me the assumed tone (by the higher powers) is always hostile when it is really not, so yeah that's a problem

No, what I mean is they [the Scratch Team] and other users know that they cannot hear the tone of voice over the internet. However, because they cannot hear the tone of voice, they cannot know exactly what tone of voice is being used (angry, joking, threatening, etc.).

But then they just assume it's negative because it's me saying it and then my message box is filled with several thousand instances of "be respectful" messages  sad

Re: An epiphany!

Cheddargirl, I am dissapointed by your tone here.  Please recall the terms of use, particularly the parts about treating others respectfully and keeping the site friendly.  Hopefully we can all enjoy this great online community and the joys of programming in Scratch without all the negative energy.

More like they take things seriously rather than lightly. It's kind of hard not to take things seriously considering the age range of people visiting this website and the fact that safety is one of the foremost priorities here.
