So I just got Pokémon Blue for my original gameboy! It's so cool! I named the rival IT. Tell me what you named your rival. I chose charmander. Let me know!

Played a lot of Pokemon games on an emulator when I was like 5. The farthest I could advance was past Lt. Surge on Red though D: I always use fire starters now but I remember having a Lv30 Wartortle one time I played hmm

I tried Red on an emulator maybe a year ago, won, realized the emulator erased the game when you win, stopped.

I've played Blue on an emulator tons of times, and it's really fun. One of my favorite Pokemon games ever.

I have red and a GBC. I stay in storyline and named my person 'Red' (Thats His Real Name, I know because I have pokemon gold) and my rival Gary. (Gary Oak, Professer Oaks Grandson T.T) I had a bulbasaur because im awesome at pokemon, and dont need the easy level (charmander)

Pokemon Red was the first video game I ever played (hey, it was 1999). I still play it sometimes, mainly for glitch-hunting.

Looking back, the engine is pretty weak compared to nowadays, but it's still a lot of fun to play.

Isn't Bulbasaur the easy level? Charmander is supposed to be the hard level.

Bulbasaur has type advantages against the Gyms 1, 2, and 8 and is resistant to Gyms 3 and 4.

Charmander, on the other hand, has type disadvantages against Gyms 1, 2, and 8 and is only resistant to Gym 4 and 7. This means that you'll have a harder time getting through the game with it.

Either way, you're not really supposed to use just your starter Pokémon and nothing else, it's better to use a varied team. So, I don't think the "easy mode" and "hard mode" really comes into play, or has any meaning at all.

Hey, if you really want a "hard mode" of playing Pokémon, google the term "Nuzlocke Challenge".
