(And if you say it's because their old you have missed the point.)

I noticed that a few newer games from old franchises have a bit of a issue, and I think it is either totally useless to you or may be of interest. The thing is in the first games in some franchises they started out with no real plot, which worked in it's way. Then as they advance over time, they ADD plots that are serious (or supposed to be) and then they end up just very silly looking, and sometimes they even play worse. Have you ever noticed this? I have in 3 game series. Anyway, discuss this stupid theory of mine and try to figure out what 3 I'm talking about. Hopefully we will also find more along the way.

Megaman. (WHAT AM I FIGHTING FOOOOR??? PS: I love these games, but really now.)

Remember: I STILL LIKE OLD GAMES. Just sometimes they get worn out as the series progresses and the best games usually are some of the first in the series. (Like Sonic.)

But there's one more, still. (Remember: They aren't bad necessarily, it's the over-blown story lines they get. So don't think bad, think of bad STORY.)

That being said, they're still some pretty darn good 12+ games of the same thing.

I don't know why the Megaman games don't get old either, they're like summer blockbusters - you get fed essentially the same thing in a new package and you still love it and are craving for more. I blame the catchy music.
