They do indeed - I'll try to explain from what I know.

An earthquake can occur when two plates are pushed into one another. Sometimes, one plate will go under the other, get stuck, then suddenly jolt free, causing an earthquake. Another type is when the plates both get pushed up, but I forget how the earthquake is formed there (I guess just the sudden movement?  hmm  Not sure.). The third type is when the plates are moving in opposite directions (a little like rubbing two pieces of sandpaper together), then they get stuck, jolt, and cause an earthquake.

Then there are quakes which occur on fault lines in plates... but I don't know how they work. They're the kinds of earthquakes we get in the UK, I think...

And I think the last big earthquake in the UK was in February 2008, with the epicentre somewhere-or-other in Lincolnshire. I remember seeing it on the news, and my brother and mum felt it... I slept through it  tongue

I find earthquakes and other aspects of physical geography really interesting, personally ^^

I don't know. You probably live a 1000 miles away. I'm gonna guess California, God's Etch-a-Sketch.

There was an earthquake 30 miles from where I live last year. Thats it. Where I live, Tropical Depressions and flash flooding are as bad as it gets weather wise.

Re: Earthquake!!!

It was probably just a very minor one. I definitely didn't feel one, for where i live getting an earthquake is extremely rare, and I don't know where you live so ya.

Don't worry if you are worrying.  smile
