totally agree, its a very easy program to use, we used it in our computing class in high school (scotland) and the demos are really good what you can learn from them.

Well, a petition is OK.
But as a teacher who agrees with you 100% let me suggest that you might get better results by showing your teachers engaging projects that relate to their specific subjects. Show them that in order to make a game, simulation or animation, you are analyzing, evaluating and synthesizing information. Show them that Scratch helps you understand and not just regurgitate.
If they ask for a Powerpuke(point) presentation, ask to do it in Scratch.

Interesting idea for a petition...what if each of you brought Scratch to your classroom and offered your teacher and classmates a demo of how to use Scratch?
Maybe your teacher doesn't understand what Scratch is for. To help explain this you could print out the pages available here: http://scratch.mit.edu/about
to bring to your class and handout.
What kinds of things would you show them on Scratch? Are there any other materials we could help provide?
If you show your teacher you are interested, they might find a way to bring it in to their classroom activities!
