Hello, I'm new around 'tis very block. I know abit about scratch, but what i'ma stuck on is How would you get a sprite to sense the floor? I'm making a SSBB game and I need it to sense that there is a floor to walk on and that the is a gap (look on youtube SSBB final destanation to see the edges and gaps), so it won't just walk in any direction regardless of the edges. Also please go through it "like you were telling it to a child who has little knowlage of scratch" because I don't know everything 'bout it.
Plz help

Try this. Put <when green flag clicked> then <forever if> then connect <touching[ whatever the floor is called ]> to <forever if> and then... i'll find out for you so wait a sec...

You might be able to find a good example of something close to what you are trying to do and download it. You can learn a lot by looking at other people's projects. For a basic platformer, there are a ton around. Maybe somebody has some recomendations? I usually start by looking at Archmage's stuff - it works and it is often well documented.
Maybe something like this demo http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/archmage/101212

The problem is, when I try to select an option for<touching[ It won't come up with the stadge.
But if I duplicate the stadge into a sprite, my music won't work
