Comment Problem

A user came to me for help with resetting their password on the Scratch Wiki (I'm an admin), on one of my projects, so I tried to give them an answer:

Admins don't have the power to reset passwords, as we don't actually know them. However the problem I do believe is that there is no email registered to your account on the wiki. If you click the plus icon next to your user name while on the wiki, and select "My Preferences," it should take you to a page. Under "User Profile" you have the option to add an email address to the account. If you do this then the password resetting should be fine. If it doesn't work, then get back to me on it.

However it said "Comments cannot excede 500 characters." Yet if you check it (I used an online character checker as well as Microsoft Word), it has 493 characters... Why wouldn't it let me?

Re: Comment Problem

Sometimes things go weird... try splitting the comment or something.  hmm

Re: Comment Problem

This looks like it might belong in "Troubleshooting" as it does appear to be a glitch with the Scratch website.  smile

Re: Comment Problem

Was your character counting application counting the blanks between the words?  Those take up space too.

Without spaces it's only 398 characters...

Well I ended up just rewriting it and making it shorter...

Re: Comment Problem

Scratch also says that there are only 493 characters...

EDIT: I've just tried it. I got the same message.

Re: Comment Problem

Okay, I put the text into the (length of [ ]) block and it reported 493 - and yes, I got the same problem as WeirdF and mathematics.  hmm

Re: Comment Problem

This had happened more than twice with me. Once when I posted a comment that was 452 characters long, but I can't remember the rest...
