You know what's weird? When I used to live in America (I was born here in NZ and moved to the U.S.A from age 4 to 8) people used to say "Where is NZ?" I would say it is close to Australia, then they would say
"I thought they were the same place!"
or
"Is there a bridge between them?"
True fact.

I live in the USA! We use different length, volume, and weight systems. I learned the metric system in school and I think it's much better than the American system.
I know! Inches and feet and miles don't seem to be based on anything. 5,280 feet to a mile? Where'd they come up with that? Meters actually have a reason for their length, and the increments for kilometers and such makes so much more sense.
America is silly.That it is.
That's why I call myself something a little different from American!
Hey the measurement system we use is actually the English system of measurements. And here's why we use it.
The colonists brought it to America while they were still colonizing. Over time, while the rest of the world was refining the measurement systems into what is now the Metric system, America was still working on becoming a unified nation. They were working on more important things, so the metric system couldn't become the official system. Well after the metric system was made, Americans were accoustomed to the English system already. All of their measurements, street signs, maps, were already based on the English system, and it would be a major pain (and it would be extremely expensive) to get rid of EVERYTHING based on the English system and base it on the Metric system. So they decided to just teach both the English and Metric systems, while leaving all measurements and everthing else based on the English system. And that's why we use it today
Just think, it would take billions of dollars to change everything based on the English system (maps, raod signs, textbooks, etc.) and change it to metric. Back then they didn't have internet or any really fast way of communicating with other states and areas in the US, so they couldn't just tell everyone to change everything just like that.

I live in the land of arrogance.
Fast food restaurants are laid throughout the land,
We are in the northern hemisphere and there is rarely sand.
School from 7:30-2:15 for me...
I live, in America.
