I just saw it on Bluray yesterday. Initially I was biased towards the movie because people had said so much junk about it. Of course, M. Night. Shyamalan messed up some of the core details of Avatar.
Things included are that firebenders need Sozin's comet to self-manifest fire, and Zuko's Blue Spirit mask has Kiss style hair on it and hardly looks like the original, aang didn't drown the entire fleet of Fire Nation boats at the Northern Water Tribe, Katara didn't accidentally waterbend Aang out of the ice, and they pronounce everyone's name wrong.
Besides everything he messed up however, it was a pretty good movie, and I hope he makes more. I think people allowed themselves to be sheeps and only saw the negative things in the movie just because everyone else did. What do you guys think?
Support M. Night

Just another cheesy Disney style, CGI extravaganza. But it was okay. Lucky for me, I never watched the show, so nothing was spoiled for me
Did you hear about all those folks who got ultra ticked (I'm pretty sure it was the good ol' Rainbow coalition) and boycotted the movie because there weren't enough Japanese actors in it? I find that kind of.....dumb. In fact, it was a very multi racial film.

And the fact that Aang isn't bald. That killed it for me.

But Aang was bald

Not bald, he had a shaved head. There's a difference. Oh, and he didn't look like Aang at all.

Guys just shave your own heads to compensate

IT was too short
I didn't like it that much

No, I don't care who's first
But I plan to wait until someone comes close and then snatch victory out of their hands at the last second

So you do care who comes first.

He doesn't care who, just if they do. But let's not turn this into a discussion of post counts.

Well in real life it's hard to get a kid that looks like a cartoon kid. They got it close enough: young, bald, childish. A couple of people they got completely wrong are Zuko and the fire lord. Zuko should have a ponytail and the firelord's hair should be long. Azula doesn't have that stern "I'm going to kill you if you step out of line" look. She's to childish. The ending sucked alot because Aang didn't drown any ships D:
Btw it actually makes sense that most of the actors are Indian, because the concept of the avatar is Indian, not Japanese as most would think from watching the cartoon.

I didn't actually watch the movie, so excuse me if any of my knowledge is incorrect. But I didn't see any Indian actors in the commercials.

Are you kidding? Over half of the main characters are Indian (the fire lord, zuko, iroh, all of the firebenders, admiral zhao, uncle iroh azula) xD
Oh yea and monk Gyatso is Thai, not African-American, like I thought lol.

for the bending, they use so much movement for lifting water or something... and every other word, aang flared his nostrils. and super bad acting. good thing i like avatar. or else i would have hated this movie so much.

In my opinion, people who have never watched avatar like it better because they don't know what's supposed to be what. Btw the movements for the bending kind of makes sense because the bending is based off of real martial arts. Incorporating more moves from the actual martial arts was a really good idea.

but i like less movement like the series.
and here's what's not like the series:
no kyoshi warriors
no freedom fighters
no haru on the SHIP. the part in a cage was haru i think, but no ship.
no agni kai between zhao and zuko.
no rejecting katara from learning water.
not a lot of chinese or japanese people (not to be racist, but that's the whole point of the series: chinese martial arts with chinese people (also japanese stuff))
no good prononciation

It was terrible, and I'm not just saying that because other people do
The dialogue was good but the way they said it was sooo dull
And everybody didn't look or act like their character at all
Sokka is supposed to be funny! And they called Appa "Upah".

Well actually the whole avatar concept isn't at all chinese or japanese. It's completely Indian. And I think the freedom fighters and kyoshi warriors are in book two. But the other things they left out that you mentioned I was very disappointed he left out

All my friend told me was that the reason the movie was bad was because the firebenders all acted like pansies.
Offline
No, freedom fighters in book 1 and 2, kyoshi warriors in book 1, 2 and 3.
And actually the words (in the intro of the series in the squares of the map) are chinese/japanese, and all the people are too. (at least in the series)
@wickimen-yeah, sokka's not funny anymore.
