Getting rid of a certain something on a list.

Is there any way you can get rid of a thing by it's name or a way you can get that thing deleted out or the list? For example: I have a Banana, and an Orange on my list. I want to get rid of the banana. So I do. But: Oh, no! Orange moves up the #1 spot! How do I get it deleted now?

Replace (Item #1 of [List] with "-")?

I don't quite know what you want; do you want to get rid of the item banana without making Orange go to #1 slot?

I'd imagine you'd replace it with something like "empty" and have set slots for each fruit?
