I'm really excited! Just got accepted into the private beta from stencyl.com! Anyone else here used it before? Any tips? It's pretty cool!

@bbbeb-Well, do you get to use java's built in paint editor to make frames? no! for more advanced programming programs, paint editors don't have to be included. you should be able to have sprites already, if you're going to use those things.
I use stencyl. I use it mostly for maps... It's fun.

I never got a reply when i sent in my application
I'm really irritated with the stencyl owners for not even bothering to email me, whatever i'm sticking with scratch now...

Say you're from scratch.
Could also recommend you if it takes too long

Yeah. It took me like 2 1/2 weeks to get accepted, but I finally did! Tried it out and it's pretty rockin'! I wish it was a BIT more programming-based though... Anyway, it's epic so far. Already made a couple of short games and deleted them for some practice. Great idea!!!

I got it, tried to make a simple platformer, the guy floated away, even with gravity on and such. I'm sticking with Scratch, I'm not ready for its complexities.

I was accepted back when they came to the forums asking Scratchers to test it out. I've made a few things with it and i really like the setup. I like it because it doesnt slow down hardly at all when you give it a big load of scripts. Unlike Scratch which slows way down if you arent using a big quad-core desktop and you try making anything even slightly complex. Its a deffinetly harder to get use to, but once you do its really alot of fun to use.

You may have set gravity the wrong way round.

gravity is just negative in stencyl dude
like adding to the y position makes it go down

No, it didn't go up.
It floated, as in no gravity.

did you even give the thing mass???
or like any kind of gravity script at all dude

Yes, all of that. But the controls acted as if it wasn't defined by anything, it just bounced off things and never slowed momentum.

dude just do this:
have a variable for the behaviour called gravity set it to like .25
in the always loop put this:
set y-speed to [[y-speed of [self]]+[gravity]]
actor should be normal, affected by gravity, have some mass, and probably some amount of friction
plus why are you posting your problems here dude
there are stencyl forums with lots of people far better at using it than me

I reported a problem occurring from its complexity (which seemed to be the topic at hand) and then inquired as to why it didn't work, so I answered. I did not intend to make this a big deal about a complaint I had.
Back to topic at hand.

I signed up about 2-3 weeks ago, haven't heard from them since. Not that I care, I really don't expect to get it anyway.
