Will you be there in late June or early July? That's when I usually visit Boston. Unlikely that SIGCSE 2012 will be there; it's usually someplace where the hotels are a little cheaper.

Hey (crazy idea born of desperation) are you flying out of DFW? And if so, any chance of coming there the night before? Dinner 5-7pm, then you could help teach the BYOB workshop 7-10pm.
EDIT: "There" = Sheraton Dallas, not DFW.

Perhaps...I think I'm going out there to visit relatives &| look at schools. Though if there's going to be a Scratch conference I would definitely try to make it to that.

No... I really wish though...
I think we're going (Home city omitted for fear of making moderators angry), Phoenix or Las Vegas, and then LA for an international flight.
There's always Palringo though. I keep meaning to make a group for BYOB3 (and other) discussion.

Out of interest, can you save BYOB blocks so they will always be there.
because if you can, then can you tell me because I really need to

If you export a sprite or save a project, all the blocks you've created will come with it.

thanks!
I am going to create a project which has all my blocks in it, so when I open BYOB I open the project.

Yeah and it's running on my computer, getting lonely.
OK, I finally made a group called {snap} for BYOB3 and other discussion. I though it was about time we changed the name.
The only thing is, I'm not sure how much time I'm going to be able to spend on there, and I know bharvey's time is limited too.

Hmmm... I didn't see you listed. In fact, when I tried to add you to my contacts it didn't recognize your username. Could you repeat your account details?
EDIT: By the way, the group ID is 553113.

OK, tried that too.
My username seems to be bh@cs.berkeley.edu or at least that's what shows on my "home" window.

Ok. You're on my contacts list now. I still don't see you listed on the snap discussion thread though...

Grump, when I try to add you, it says I'm not connected, even though it says "online" in my status. (You're shadow_7283 right?)

Well, you're on my contacts! Still not part of the {snap} group chat though....

@bharvey
I've uploaded to " http://www.xleroy.net/ByobTuto/thumbnails.html" an application which summarizes some useful blocks to handle the powerful capabilities of BYOB like "methods" and "OOP properties" It shows how to implement inter-sprite communication.
This application can help you to evaluate future Byob-Snap enhancements like sprite duplication (for the time being duplicating by hand is not a major issue , considering that the main limitation to using dozens of sprites is the overloading of application )
Except if you can find a kind of "inheritance" way as to avoid the duplication of many identical scripts, for example have a way to parameter the making of variable names ( for example : SET variable <sprite-n> TO join <local variable sprite > < -n>)

Yeah, that's on my list too, but not as high on the list as some other things because it's really just a different syntax for the FOREVER IF block. The high-priority things are the ones for which there's no easy equivalent, like first class sprites with prototyping CLONE.
