.....Last night I left my computer on while I went to a swim meet, unsuspecting of the horror that lay on the website I left it on (Addicting Games, something that I had been on many times before and gotten nothing). When I got back from a great race, I learned to my absolute shock that my computer had gotten a rogue antispyware called "Win Defrag". Well, I panicked, and shut down my computer. I didn't touch it last night or this morning, for fear of the harm it might cause to my computer.
.....In my business class this morning I looked it up online. Due to the schools web block, I couldn't see some results, like yahoo answers. However, I got the general sense that the virus was new, and very hard to get rid of. One has to run several spywre programs in safe mode that I didn't have. Or, for manual removal, one must go to registrys and .dll's to delete everything. I was very demotivated.
.....When I got home today I turned on my computer and tried to get my antispyware program, McAfee, workiong. It did not detect the virus. I then searched it on my computer files to delete it, but it wouldn't let me delete. Feeling even worse, I googled it again, and looked at the Yahoo answers from earlier, to see if it had anything else I could do. And I was presented with an answer. I booted my computer, ran it in safe mode with networking, and restored my PC to two days ago, when the virus didn't exist. It Worked.
"Thee "Win Defrag" virus hath been slain. It was a mighty foe, but no match for thee valient Sir System Reboot!"
So, discuss.

Nice message it gave you after it was gone.

My computer recently got a virus too. It was called "Security Tool," I believe. It took forever to destroy it, but I finally did.

I got A.V. Security Suite once. I don't even remember how we got rid of it.

Why does AddictingGames give you viruses? It's a highly trusted site....
On another note, if you want to be rid of malware, install linux over 600 distrobutions and counting!

If I wanted to get rid of a virus but couldn't do it I would boot up using linux and find the files and delete them. It's so much better than any windows OS.

Somebody hacked into their website two nights ago and changed it to give out the virus. It's not the websites fault, as they were chosen as the host.

How do you know the virus was even on your computer?
You said you couldn't detect it

My antivirus couldn't detect it. However it was spamming my screen with fake alerts and stuff. I knew it was there, the thing protecting my computer didn't.
