We can make a scratch chat room, where you can talk AND interact with others. The scratcher's 2D character will be a single chosen sprite from one of their files or from one of their games. After they have chosen that character sprite, the sprite will be the sprite used every time that scratcher goes into the chat room. The admins, creator, etc etc can create the chatroom environment. There should be different servers so there is no clog up. If the scratcher doesn't have sprite of their own, the default sprite could be the cat. The sprite's scripts can still be used in each chatroom, allowing the sprite to move or do whatever it was programmed to do. Of course there has to be no cussing, cyber bullying, or any form of disrespect whatsoever. There can also be different environments. All sprite characters that enter a chatroom without a moving script(Ex: [blocks]<move(10)steps>[/blocks]), then that sprite must automatically recieve a moving script for going in both directions, left and right, and also to be able to jump. I hope this I dea gets promoted!

There has been a lot of talk about having chatrooms in Scratch.
The Scratch website does not and (most likely) will never have chatrooms. We do not have the resources or the interest at this point to support the monitoring of chatrooms. User-driven monitoring is not an option for a chatroom that involves minors. We have enough work with dealing with the projects and comments on the site as it is right now.
So sorry but no chatrooms.
We also want to discourage people from using the forums, galleries and projects as a chatrooms.
As you might know some members have created their own websites with forums and even chatrooms. You are free to do that as it is outside the realm of what Scratch is about. You might also have noticed that a few users were arguing about the list of chatrooms. So if that happens just with a list of chatrooms imagine what happens with the chatrooms themselves
Anyway, if you have anything to say about this topic this is the thread where it should be posted. Any other threads about chatrooms will be closed as they do not seem to provide any valuable information about Scratch.
Thank you and feel free to contac us if you have any questions.
Scratch on.
