Two questions regarding this topic.
1. Is it legal to submit a scratch game to another gaming website and make a profit or get a sponsorship from that gaming website ex. Addicting games.
2,. Is it possible to convert a scratch program file into a .swf, .dcr, .zip, .rar? And if it is possible and legal, How would I do it?
I am just wondering because on guy got me interested and I may want to submit some of my games to Addicting games.

I have been thinking the same thing. The only thing is, your game can not have any copywrited material. So, any game with a picture or music you would either have to change or get an agreement with the creator. Also I would want to know if I could convert the File also!

Isn't addictinggames only flash games?
You can only convert it to .exe as far as I'm concerned. I'm sure if you converted it to .exe it would be profitable if you sold it.

Actually, the only requirment I saw was those file drives. I more want to get it published on a website then rather make a profit although I wouldn't say no to both.

I think I found a website that might let you do it, I am not sure. They didn't put any file type requirments and didn't say it was limited to flash and java so...
Anyone have a game they want to test on it? Here is the site, its really well known. http://www.freeonlinegames.com/submitagame/index.php

You can put them into .zip and .rar formats but that wouldn't really do anything because those are compression formats. I'm not sure if it's legal to make profit from Scratch games, try reading the Scratch Terms of Use. Also, most game websites don't use Java applets anymore because flash looks much nicer and more presentable.

Alright, I'll get back on this. I'm doing something commonly know as "clicking the contact us button"

I think that Freeonlinegames.com will take them as long as they are flash quality. I just don't have any games right now that I want on it because mine arn't good enough yet. If anyone would be willing to try, I would love to see it. Oh, and thatnks bluestribute and welcome back!

I don't know if it's legal. As far as I understand the license, you may not "sell" your game. It has to be shared free (if you share it) and i think it is required to share the source code with it. That means that you may not sell your game to any gaming website, and they would need to upload it with a link to a .sb source file. (They won't do it )
btw, They mostly don't accept Java games.
I am not sure about this all, so I would like a response from a Scratch Team member or someone completely understanding licenses and stuff

3. If i create a game on scratch could i sell it to a website to post withuot being subject to copyright etc.?? would i have to do anything to make it legal? thanks.
i know it'snot likely but i think i know ppl who would and i would like it if an admin could give me a sure answre on 3As the creator of your project, you own the copyright and can sell it if you like.
The right way to protect a creative work is with a copyright notice (not a trademark - a trademark is used to protect a product name or logo). You can add a copyright notice screen to your project. This is simple; just add a screen that says:
"Copyright (c) 2008 <your name>"
If your project contains any images or characters created by others (e.g. Mickey Mouse or the Scratch Cat), you'd need to get permission from the owners of those images or characters before you can sell it. You have our permission to use the Scratch Cat logo in your projects. Please give credit to us, for example:
"Scratch is a project of the MIT Media Lab - Lifelong Kindergarten Group
http://scratch.mit.edu "
Finally, do not post your project on the Scratch website if you are not willing to have others use it to make their own versions of projects. If you post it, you still own the copyright and can sell your own project, but it will not prevent anyone from using it to create their own projects.
You can find more information on copyright here: http://scratch.mit.edu/forums/viewtopic.php?pid=53075#p53075
Mletreat posted thiss on the thread I got this idea from. Anyway, I don't really want to seel my games, I just want them for now to be on one of the major gaming sites.

You mean you tried one out? Or are you just saying that? Also, Does that mean only really good games get on there or only flash games get on there?

Oh well...My dreams are crushed...*crys in corner*.
Ohwell, I guess instead of going to a popular site to make my games well known, I will just have to get this one popular!

Another thing you could do is make your own game site. But that probably won't get terribly famous.
