Shooting
im trying to create a platform game and am trying to figure out how to have my character shoot his gun. mostly need help with how to get the bullet to do what it needs to do

It depends, automatic fire or single fire? http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/complex/1412555 You may want to download that to check out the programming of the bullets.
