Why Does This "Music" Exist

I know there is already a topic on this, but it's really old, and I'm making this topic in a different fashion (like JOJ2's "Kids TV Shows These Days").

Feel free to argue, but please don't flame.

If you want me to add a song, tell me the song, and I might if it's bad enough.

Here are the songs:

Baby by Justin Bieber ft. Ludacris:
With a combo of the world's worst singer, and the world's worst rapper, we can't expect something the least bit good. This is pure proof. One sorta-good thing, is Ludacris doesn't have his awful view of women on this track, but his part still stinks. Justin Bieber can only (oh so tediously) sing about love. His voice sounds like a 7 year old girl trying to get her mother to buy her candy at the grocery store. It's just horrid to listen to.

Tik Tok by Ke$ha:
This song and music video is probably brainwashing today's kids into drunk, partying freaks. She wakes up in a bathtub, and brushes her teeth with jack! Jack! I wouldn't want my kids doing that at all!

So, anyway she goes on to steal a kid's bike, find some boys, but she'll kick them to the curb if they don't look like Mick Jagger. Wait, Mick Jagger? He's a great musician (unlike Ke$ha), but:
http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRycPNN7fyXA3a0vZfBSnffmV5yxURIri5W8qMTfEKTcsNkQOrE

Yeah... Do I have to keep going? No, I think not.

OMG by Usher ft. Will.i.am:
Okay, how the hail did this guy survive 18 years in the music industry? Really. And now he's worse than ever, if that's even possible. Will.i.am used to be good, but now he's just a sell-out. The song is a boring, autotuned piece of poo. The music video is gross and degrading, in even more ways than the song. Usher, you're 18 years in the music industry have told us that you only respect women for their physical apperance. Why shall you keep reinforcing that fact?

I have more, but I'll think I'll leave at this for now. What do you want me to make bad comments about next?

"Achy Breaky Heart" - Billy Ray Cyrus, "May The Bird Of Paradise Fly Up Your Nose" - Little Jimmy Dickens.

I searched Most Horrible Country Songs. #1 was Achy Breaky Heart.
I hate most country songs.

I find country even worse than pop, but the bad pop artists are worse.

Re: Why Does This "Music" Exist

Yes. Finally an excuse to rant!  tongue

I hate how in music this days, even in music aimed at 10-13 has bad messages.
For example, Tik-Tok by Ke$ha, maybe that was aimed for around 16+. But, its Ke$ha, and they put it on the radio so it is now mostly 10-12 year olds who hear it and learn about.... you know, that kind of stuff.

Musicians don't make much music actually aimed for 8-11 much anymore. So what do they listen to? The 13-16 music.

Almost every modern song goes like this:

Autotuned Signer Sings
Autotuned Signer Sings
Rapper jumps in and does his stuff
Autotuned Signer Sings
Autotuned Signer Sings

Of course, now we have Autotuned Rappers. Woohoo.

But now I'm started on rapping: Its just fast talking, with swearing, slang, sexism and just plain gibberish.

Now, rap is obviously (on average) not for kids. But now they are sticking it into music that is 'for kids'?

Here is a story: My 5 year old sister looks up to my 11 year old sister. My 11 year old sister listens to slightly non age appropriate music about love and stuff. And drinking. since my little sister looks up to her, she says she loves that music too.
So, do you want to hear my 5 year old sister's favorite songs?
TikTok
Boom Boom Pow
I Got a Feeling
Californa Girls
Everything Bieber

You know what words and themes she learned from that? Here we go... (Note this is also from TV she is exposed to.)
-Kissing
-Boyfriend/Girlfriend
-The phrase 'Shut Up'
-The other word for 'Darn'
-The phrase 'Boys trying to touch my junk' (Gee thanks, Ke$ha, for teaching her that)
-Picking up boys
-Drinking/Alcohol
-Drugs

Her little kid games now have kissing and relationship drama. She wants a cell phone. And a bikini for swimming lessons. And she keeps talking about wearing bras.

My five year old sister. It makes me sad to think how polluted her mind is getting  sad

When I am a parent, I am going to be very cautious of music. I know to do this from experience.

Sorry about the rant, I am just upset at how music changed my baby sister....

Re: Why Does This "Music" Exist

wow man the answer to this question is pretty obvious
those songs exist because somebody made em
somebody made em because they were inspired to

but whether they were inspired to make em for a good reason or just money is beyond me bro

Okay fine. And I see I'm allowed to suggest songs, so do all modern music, sanddude.

yeah man i have a sister thats like eight and shes said some odd things thanks to tv and stuff
like i was trying to watch hannah montana and she said "hannah montana sucks" and i was like wow because its like my favorite show ever and she used to love it too
but i blame the internet
oh and my mom is really upset because she said "i thought moms were supposed to cook" and its pretty hilarious because my mom got all offended and gave a huge lecture about stereotypes
but that probably has nothing to do with music

@wiimaster: I agree with you, except for the rap stuff. Not all rap is like that. Some has insightful social commentary.

"Your Love is my Drug" by Ke$ha.

Seriously, all this junk from Ke$ha and Justin Beaver is just ruining the music industry! Everywhere you look, there is nothing but "Baby, baby, baby...." and stupid giggles!
Why can't we just kick these bad singers to the curb, and get the good music back? Until the record companies realize this, we are all going to be Livin' on a Prayer.  wink

Before I start screaming stuff that would get me perma-banned, I need to return to my safehouse that is 80's music.

Re: Why Does This "Music" Exist

It frustrates me when lots of new songs have lots of swearing and dirty meanings. It took me about 3 months to twig how dodgy 'I Gotta Feeling' is. And live performers who lip-sync!  sad  It's disgraceful. And don't get me started on costumes. The girls are half naked (or more, in Miley Cyrus' case) and the boys just follow the crowd and prance around in hoodies. For all of you who struggle to understand why I like Jedward, they have their own dress sense (blazers and giant hi tops with wings) and they are definitely not auto-tuned, lol!  tongue

I'm seeing some flaming going on here...if I get some time I'll clean it up and reopen.  Meanwhile, chill, people.  By the way...it's really not that helpful when folks quote the flames and then add there own comments.  Because the flames have to come out and that means more posts to be edited or deleted.  So, please, just report them and move on.  Thanks.
