Actually it might be a tie between pencils and pens.
Pencils GOOD SIDES-
1. Eraser
2. Um, that's it.
Pencils BAD SIDES-
1. You have to keep Sharpening them.
2. They easily break.
Pens GOOD SIDES-
1. Easy to write with
2. Don't have to sharpen
Pens BAD SIDES-
1. Can't erase
Even though it looks like pens win, I say pencils!

I often use a pencil so sketch out gesture then go over with pen on top
But most of the time, I freehand with a pen. It's just naturally dark and I can make confident lines with it, so nothing shakes.lasc12 wrote:

You have a feather pen? AWESOMELY AWESOME!
I think the term is quill
I've used one before, and they are difficult
Ah, yes, it is called a quill. And just 'cause they're hard doesn't make 'em not AWESOMELY AWESOME!

I like sharpening pencils
I like when they get tiny

Depends on use. For sketching and doing math, I prefer pencil. For taking notes and line art, I use a pen.
I suppose when it comes to unusual pens and pencils, my dip pen comes to mind. I actually quite like it because instead of buying new ink pens all the time, all I have to do is buy the ink only (and maybe a new nib if the tip breaks).

It depends on the subject and type of pen and pencil.
I like mechanical pencils because I just put my 0.7 lead in and BAM! I'm done. (Always bring those Lead Refill things.)
The pen is much harder. A gel pen is smooth and easy to write on. Those click pens suck and the ink is cheap. Ballpoint pens are easy and smooth, but makes your handwriting look messy if you don't take breaks.

And it is hard to write, but I get perfect lines if I use it right

Further proof that pens are AWESOMELY AWESOME: I have about twenty of these really awesome pens. They're quite old (5+ years), have never had caps, and they still haven't dried out. It's kinda scary, actually. Go pens!

I like to write in pencil, but draw in pen, but it really doesn't matter that much to me.
